Film Production Begins for Malama- Time to Protect the Oceans

After receiving funds from GEF to produce our Malama film; we travelled to Kauai and began our film shoot on the island. So blest we were with wild weather to create the dramatic interaction of our main character, Hina (played by Malia Badis) with the nature that in the story, inspires her art. Exciting was to shoot underwater with the master film-maker, Don King (Hunger Games, Castaways, Soul Surfer) and our ‘real’ mermaid. The imagery is spectacular as only Hawaii can produce. The message to expand our marine protected areas, essential; and the collaboration, creative commitment of our team was 100% worth the journey.
